Clever idea being trialled in California where I have found from personal experience the quality and reliability of the Uber ride sharing company really impressive. Uber are partnering a start up idea from Cargo to install mini vending machines into Uber vehicles.
Initially only available in San Francisco and Los Angeles customers will be able to use a smart app to buy range of small items including snacks, phone chargers and other bits and pieces. Uber drivers receive small fixed fee for each sale plus a percentage of the sale value to encourage their fares to make a purchase.
Yet another example of contactless, coinless technology increasing the spread of reselling options far beyond the historic scope of vending equipment.
