Although not a completely new idea, with the first Moët & Chandon champagne vending machine being install in Selfridges back in 2013, I noticed this week that Arnaud’s French 75 Bar way over in New Orleans USA are trying this too. A special Moët gold coin costing $20 can be obtained at the bar to access the miniature chilled champagne bottles.
Although obviously a clever marketing opportunity I think the whole thing is rather let down by the inclusion of a special branded spout to enable each mini bottle to be enjoyed immediately. For me a chilled Budweiser or Corona beer swigged straight from the bottle on a hot day is perfect but champagne the same way….no thanks, too many bubbles for a start.
