Without giving away my age I do remember the first Mars Twix bar arriving in the school tuck shop and I have been a regular eater ever since. The announcement that Mars are launching a Twix Fino product, the first truly new variant in 43 years, confirms the years have simply flown by!
Over the years Mars have launched different sizes of Twix bar and have changed the soft ingredients to include such delights as chocolate and orange, mint, ice cream Twix and even chocolate fudge although the original biscuit base has remained throughout.
Available from September this year the Twix Fino has a wafer rather than biscuit base and clocks up a mere 94 calories per finger to appeal to all those calorie counters out there. Mars have announced that the target market is 25 to 44 year old male or female professionals meaning I fail on the first but qualify on the last two! The Twix Fino will actively target the female market as a light alternative snack and I am sure will be a successful addition to the Mars confectionary range with both sexes!
The current Twix brand generates sales of £60 million a year and occupies fourth place in the current table of popular chocolate bars. Twix sales remain buoyant despite the recession with sales growth above four percent for each of the previous three sales years.
Twix Fino, certainly a “fine” addition to this brand.
